I ended up with a couple of pairs of these shorts, in both colorways. The fabric and finish is excellent and both look great. I really dig the blue, it's sharp looking in person. The shorts are very comfortable in both modes (loose - unzipped / technical - zipped). I generally ride with them in the technical mode. They stay put perfectly and the liner and short move in sync, rarely needing any sort of adjustment. I have used these for everything from family rides to 6hr gravel rides and mountain bike rides and everything in between. On donut rides, with a quick zip, the shorts turn into loose and comfy with my two young girls. I don't mind the funny looks spandex can bring, but sometimes my girls do! These and the detour model have become my go to for just about every ride. I haven't had a chance to take these bikepacking yet, but I think they will be ideal for that application, technical when on the bike, loose when not and when at camp. Since they can fill both needs, they will eliminate bringing along extra shorts too on those light and fast bikepacking missions. I tend to run on the slimmer side, but find their sizing spot on for the application. I'm looking forward to seeing what the team at elevenpine has in store for the future!
I purchased a pair and liked them so much I bought 3 more for myself and then 1 each for my adult son and daughter. I am moving from a road bike to a recumbent due to neck and shoulder issues and I wanted to wear something more comfortable than my Lycra bibs. No longer needing padded shorts a search led me to 11Pine. I did not want flapping gym shorts and with zipper and Velcro tabs have an aero effect like my bibs. My son is an avid mtn biker for many years with a trip to the Andes, numerous rides on the Colorado front range and many trips to Moab. He said, “nice stretch and very breathable especially when you unzip the legs. Very well thought out design clearly by people who bike.” My daughter review was now you know what to get me at Christmas. There were a couple issues that came up with my first order of which one clearly rests with the postal service. Jeff at 11Pine was on top of each one and communicated with me regularly until everything was resolved. I was very impressed by this. In conclusion, the Uprising short is an excellent product that myself, son and daughter are very well pleased with and with the couple of issues I experienced on the initial order the customer service was well beyond what I normally experience in the marketplace. So I finish by saying you can find shorts of lesser quality but I doubt you can find any of better quality and certainly none backed with the customer service that 11Pine backs their product with.
I ride a road bike, fat bike, recumbent trike and tandem trike. With the addition of the padded liner, these shorts are perfect for the roadie and fat bike. Removing the liner, they make for perfect recumbent shorts. They stay in place just fine, and they don't have the skin tight feel of typical bike shorts. Best of all, they don't stand out wearing them out on the town with a short sleeve shirt. They just look like normal shorts. This is wonderful when one is trying to carry as little as possible on a long distance ride.
My girlfriend liked the shorts so much she ordered me a second pair. For postal reasons unknown, it never got delivered. Jeff literally hand delivered it to our home in Pine Brook Hills in Boulder. How is that for customer service
