Next Sunday, January 24th* marks the first day in North America where a ski resort has opened up their terrain for lift-serviced fat biking. No this resort is not in our home state of Colorado, but instead it’s in the great midwestern city of Duluth, Minnesota. This city has been on our radar for a long time to ride in the summer, but it appears that they are becoming a year round biking destination.
Spirit Mountain offers lift served, winter, downhill mountain biking every Sunday from 10am - 4pm. Spirit is known for their amazing bike park during the summer and this addition should be well received by the thriving mountain bike community in the Duluth area.*The original first day was January 17th, but was delayed a week due to weather conditions.
Hi, I'm Jeff Curran the founder of ELEVENPINE, I would like to welcome you to our blog, On And Off The Bike.
I grew up playing lacrosse, hockey and soccer. We would never wear our game uniforms other than during games. In fact, Bones, my college lacrosse coach, made us wear sweatpants whenever we practiced so that during games we would feel faster, lighter and quicker. Yet, in cycling, we are expected to wear racing gear—sometimes even mocked if we don’t—even when we are not racing. It’s just like skiing at a resort wearing racing tights. Other than for closing or throwback day, would you ever do that?
So I set out on a journey to help cycling dudes just be dudes (ladies too, but dudes are the obvious need). Our goal at ELEVENPINE is to inspire people to live, share and enjoy life… and have plenty of good laughs. Our amazing team designed and created our products in this spirit. On And Off The Bike will also follow this same spirit.
We look forward to sharing with you all types of information that you can use on a daily basis as we all seek our next adventure with our friends. We also will not be shy about highlighting individuals and groups that are making a positive difference in this world.
Please check back here often and do share stories, photos and videos of your own fun. I would love to hear from you. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to ripping it up together on the road, mountain, surf, concert, café, brewery or wherever our adventures lead us.
